Changes and challenges affecting teenagers can result in habits that affect their oral health. Less frequent tooth brushing, new eating patterns and not attending for regular dental exams can increase the risk of developing tooth decay. At Sunshine Coast Smile Centre our Teenage Dentistry service encourages all teenagers to embrace good oral hygiene awareness.

This includes brushing twice a day and flossing as well as regular appointments with our dentists and dental hygienist. At their exam and cleaning appointment we will show them how to practice good oral hygiene techniques as well as discussing the importance of managing their oral health for the long term.

If protruding, misaligned or crowded teeth are a concern we can arrange a referral to an orthodontist. Orthodontics can help correct cosmetic problems, bad bites, misaligned teeth as well as speech and chewing difficulties. Treatment can vary and by referring at an early age treatment can sometimes be simplified.

Sunshine Coast Smile Centre can bulk bill eligible teenagers thru the Medicare Child Benefits Schedule.

Our Teenage Dentistry service utilise the latest technologies including digital x-rays and intra oral camera to help diagnose potential problems early and our 3 resident dentists collectively have over 50 years of experience in treating teenagers.
