Dental Bridges
Dental bridges are a treatment option used to replace one or several missing teeth. The teeth on one or each end of the gap are fitted with crowns thereby becoming an anchor to support the bridge as a replacement. If you have missing teeth and require a new bridge, or a dental bridge repair dentist on the Sunshine Coast, we can help you from our clinic in Cotton Tree.
It is ideal to insert a replacement tooth as soon as possible when a tooth is lost as teeth may move into the space changing your bite over time.
This changed bite may result in sore jaws, gum disease, or decay (due to more difficult hygiene).
As with other types of crowns, a bridge can be made of metal, porcelain or a combination of the two.
How are Tooth Bridges prepared?
A bridge is completed over 2 visits. At the first appointment the teeth to be crowned are prepared and an impression is taken.
This impression is sent to the dental laboratory and the bridge is made by a dental technician.
At the second visit, normally 1-2 weeks later, the bridge is cemented and any adjustments are made.
